Description:
In 1968, after 154 years of its existence a brown coal mine had to be closed down, because thermal waters of constant 32,5 oC temperature had appeared in the mine flooding its shaft.

It consequently led to the formation of the spa, its construction and development.

The first patients of the spa were miners who felt the salutary effects of the thermal waters even back in 19th century. Namely, they used to soak their legs in a hot greenish water to alleviate their rheumatic troubles.

Modern development of the spa begins with the construction of quality and functional accomodation and medical facilities, open and closed pools and other supporting facilities.

In 1997 the institution and the town of Vrdnik achieved the status of a spa and a tourist place respectively.

Today The Specialized Hospital for Rehabilitation «TERMAL» has an up-to-date equipment and a team of doctors specialized in physiatry and acupuncturology
